6th Luxembourg-Poland Business Conference: Exploring AI Perspectives from Luxembourg and Poland
Warsaw, 25th November 2024 – The 6th Luxembourg-Poland Business Conference, hosted under the honorary patronage of the Embassy of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in Warsaw, brought together key stakeholders to discuss the transformative impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Organized by the Luxembourg-Poland Chamber of Commerce (LPCC) and Poland-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce (PLIG), the event focused on the innovative opportunities and challenges AI presents in finance, technology, and cross-border collaboration.
The conference opened with welcome remarks from Paul Schmit, Ambassador of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in Warsaw, and a representative from the Polish Embassy in Luxembourg. Gilles Roth, Minister of Finance of Luxembourg, and Andrzej Domański, Minister of Finance of Poland, delivered keynote speeches, highlighting the economic potential of AI in driving innovation, increasing productivity, and addressing skills shortages in both countries.
Two insightful panel discussions followed:
– “The AI Revolution in Financial Services” explored how AI reshapes global and regional economies, particularly in the financial sector. Moderated by Dr Gabriela Bar, an expert in AI law and ethics, the panel featured distinguished speakers, including Prof. Wojciech Kowalczyk (Poznan University of Technology), Philippe Maes (Wizata), Dr Michał Nowakowski (ZP Zackiewicz and Partners), Agata Szeliga (SKS), and Nasir Zubairi (LHoFT).
– “Triangle for Success – Cooperation Between Banking, Research, and Startups” showcased collaborations between academia and industry in designing AI tools for practical applications. Moderated by Jan Tarasiewicz (Dentsu), the panel included experts like Dr Carlo Duprel (University of Luxembourg), Anne Goujon (BGL BNP Paribas), Sławomir Kumka (IBM Poland), and Paweł Skrzypek (Omphalos Fund).
The discussions underscored AI’s role in enhancing decision-making, increasing efficiency, and fostering innovation while addressing pressing concerns such as data privacy, cybersecurity, and ethics.
The event concluded with a summary session, a lively Q&A, and a networking luncheon, emphasizing the importance of cross-border cooperation in advancing AI’s potential.
